The research conducted was prompted to address established cultural narratives, describing how the story changed, and understanding the implications of the narrative’s development and its unresolved issues. For my research project, I analyzed the different cultural narratives around Factitious disorder (Munchausens syndrome) including Munchausens syndrome by proxy and Morgellons disease, and how stigmatized narratives interfered with adequate care and manifests into social and physical trauma when left untreated.
